Acrylic Paintings
Yes, I only use acrylic In my paintings. Yes, I have tried oils, I do not like them, they take way too long to dry and I like working I quick layers were I can build up the color. In undergrad I developed a method for which I begin all of my paintings: first I paint my page with a wash of medium cadmium red and burnt sienna to create a saturated red, then I sketch in charcoal directly onto the page. Once I am happy with the sketch everything is sealed with a matte spray. I will then paint directly over the original sketch.
Fun fact: I do all of my own photography for my reference photos!

“The Taking”-2022
This piece is a 7ft by 3.5ft wood relief carved by hand into a single MDF board. I created this piece for my large scale relief class I took during my undergrad. From start to final printing this piece took me a month and half of planning and carving to complete. Once I was finished with the carving process Big Girl, the nickname I gave this piece, she was printed onto dyed cotton fabric with the assistance of no less than 8 other people.
This piece remains to be the largest piece of art I have ever created and is still one of my favorites.
Once I graduated from ECU I started making smaller lino prints to sell on Etsy.
